Thanjavur, also known as Tanjore, is a historical city in Tamil Nadu, celebrated for its impressive architecture, vibrant culture, and rich legacy as the seat of the Chola dynasty. Known as the "Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu," Thanjavur is also famed for its contributions to South Indian art and classical music. It’s a must-visit destination for lovers of history, architecture, and traditional South Indian culture.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Madurai – Local Sightseeing

Upon arrival at Madurai Airport/Railway Station, meet our representative and proceed to the hotel for check-in. After freshening up, embark on a sightseeing tour of the historic city, visiting the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, Gandhi Memorial Museum (subject to time), and other prominent attractions. Spend the evening exploring the local markets or enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the temple city. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Madurai.

Overnight Stay: Madurai

Day 2: Madurai – Rameswaram

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to the sacred island town of Rameswaram. On arrival, visit the revered Ramanathaswamy Temple, known for its magnificent corridors and 22 holy theerthams. Continue to Agni Theertham, Panchamukhi Hanuman Temple, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Memorial, and Pamban Bridge viewpoint. After completing the sightseeing, check in to the hotel and relax.

Overnight Stay: Rameswaram

Day 3: Rameswaram – Dhanushkodi – Tanjavur

After breakfast, visit the mystical town of Dhanushkodi, famous for its pristine beaches, the confluence of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean, and the ruins of the old town destroyed in the 1964 cyclone. After exploring Dhanushkodi, begin your journey towards Tanjavur. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 4: Tanjavur – Srirangam – Madurai Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and visit the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India's finest architectural masterpieces. Later, proceed to Srirangam to seek blessings at the famous Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. After completing the temple visit, drive back to Madurai for your onward journey, carrying with you cherished memories of this divine pilgrimage.
