Overview

The sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are among the most revered pilgrimage destinations in the world. Regarded as the spiritual center of the universe in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon traditions, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is considered one of the most sacred and spiritually rewarding journeys for devotees.

Located in the remote region of Tibet, Mount Kailash rises to an altitude of about 6,714 meters, while the pristine Lake Manasarovar lies at approximately 4,550 meters above sea level. Pilgrims believe that performing the sacred Kailash Parikrama (Kora) and taking a holy dip in the waters of Lake Manasarovar helps cleanse sins and brings spiritual liberation.

This 13 Nights / 14 Days overland journey begins in Kathmandu, where pilgrims visit important temples including Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most significant shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. After completing the initial preparations and yatra briefing, the journey continues by road into Tibet through the Kyirung border.

Travelling through the dramatic Himalayan landscapes, pilgrims gradually acclimatize to the high altitude while passing through scenic regions such as Kyirung and Saga before reaching the holy Lake Manasarovar. Here, devotees perform sacred rituals, take a holy bath, and offer prayers on the banks of the divine lake.

The most significant part of the pilgrimage is the Kailash Parikrama, a spiritually powerful trek around Mount Kailash covering approximately 52 km over three days. During the journey, pilgrims cross the sacred Dolma La Pass (5630 m) and visit places of great religious significance, making the experience both physically challenging and spiritually uplifting.

This overland route provides a gradual ascent and better acclimatization, allowing pilgrims to experience the spiritual aura of the Himalayas while undertaking one of the most revered pilgrimages in the world.
