Coorg

Also known as Madikeri, Coorg is a hill station town and a popular tourist destination in Karnataka. Madikeri was formerly known as Muddu raja keri, which means Mudduraja's town. It was named after the prominent Haleri king, Mudduraja who ruled Kodagu from 1633-1687. The history of Madikeri is related to the history of Kodagu as from the 2nd to 6th century, the northern part of Kodagu was ruled by Kadambas. The southern part of Kodagu was ruled by Gangas , but after defeating the Gangas in the 11th century, Cholas became the rulers of Kodagu.


Mysore

Mysore, officially renamed as Mysuru, is the third most populous city in the state of Karnataka, India. Located at the base of the Chamundi Hills about 146 km (91 mi) southwest of the state capital Bangalore, it is spread across an area of 128.42 km2 (50 sq mi). According to the provisional results of the 2011 national census of India, the population is 887,446. Mysore City Corporation is responsible for the civic administration of the city, which is also the headquarters of the Mysore district and the Mysore division.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Bangalore → Mysore | Sightseeing
Pick up from Bangalore Airport, railway station, bus stand, hotel or residence and proceed towards Mysore. En route, visit Srirangapatna, including Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple and Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace / Dariya Daulat Bagh, based on timing. Continue to Mysore and visit Chamundi Hills and Chamundeshwari Temple. Later cover Mysore Zoo, Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery and St. Philomena’s Church, depending on available time. In the evening, visit Brindavan Gardens for the musical fountain show, subject to operating timings. Overnight stay in Mysore.

Day 2 – Mysore → Coorg | Sightseeing
After breakfast, check out by around 08:00 AM and proceed to Coorg. En route, visit Bylakuppe, one of the largest Tibetan settlements in South India, and explore the famous Tibetan Golden Temple. If time permits, take a coffee plantation visit to understand the region’s coffee cultivation. Later, check in to the hotel in Coorg. Visit Madikeri Fort and Raja’s Seat. Overnight stay in Coorg.

Day 3 – Coorg Sightseeing
After breakfast, start the full-day Coorg sightseeing plan. Drive to Talakaveri, considered the birthplace of River Cauvery. En route, visit Bhagamandala, Bhagandeshwara Temple and Triveni Sangama. After lunch, visit Abbey Falls, Mandalpatti Jeep Point and Omkareshwar Temple, depending on timing. For Mandalpatti, the cab will usually drop you at the jeep stand, and the jeep ride to the viewpoint has to be hired locally on a direct payment basis.

Day 4 – Coorg Sightseeing → Bangalore Drop
After breakfast, check out from the Coorg hotel and proceed towards Dubare Elephant Camp, known for elephant interaction activities, subject to timing and availability. River rafting is seasonal and is usually available during suitable water-flow months, commonly around July to December, depending on local conditions. Later visit Kaveri Nisargadhama, an island formed by River Cauvery. Continue the return journey to Bangalore. On arrival, get dropped at Bangalore Airport, Railway Station, Bus Stand, Hotel or Residence.
